Settings tabs
General & Recording
Experience (Simple/Full), output folder, video quality (Low/Medium/High), transcription & UI language, theme, accent color, text size, AI output language, default live layout, default Auto-Assist context, MS Teams auto-record, screenshot auto-capture, check for app updates, license & trial status.
AI & Assist Mode
Summary provider (Gemini, on-device, OpenAI-compatible, Anthropic Claude, Claude CLI, Antigravity CLI), API keys, Assist-Mode model roles (embedding + fast models), suggested-answer anchors, Copilot reasoning.
Transcription & ASR
On-device models, GPU support, and bundled speaker-diarization models. The live dictation model and the saved transcript are set separately, and each picker leads with what the model is for rather than its name — Maximum accuracy · English, Lowest latency · English, Most robust · Japanese, Fastest · Japanese, Multilingual · Chinese / Korean.
Audio & Microphone
Input devices, noise reduction, echo gate, and "Start recordings muted" — begin every recording with your microphone muted and unmute from the recording controls when you are ready to speak.
Backup & Storage
Archive folders, configuration sync.
Privacy & Data
Offline mode and data-destination audit.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Customize global hotkeys and navigation.
Translation
Live transcript translation settings.
Mobile Sync
Pair a phone over your local network. This tab appears once the mobile companion ships — it is hidden in the current release.
Calendar
Connect Apple Calendar, Google, Microsoft / Outlook, or an ICS feed to see upcoming meetings and start a pre-filled recording in one click, plus how far ahead to look. URL subscriptions are disabled in Offline Mode.
Activity Log
The local audit log of app actions and data events.
Feedback
Report a bug or request a feature by opening a pre-filled GitHub issue in your browser. Issues are public; nothing is sent unless you submit it, and reporting is disabled in Offline Mode.
AI provider flexibility. Summaries and assistance aren't locked to
one vendor — run a fully on-device model, point at a
local OpenAI-compatible server, or use a cloud provider. Offline
mode blocks all of the cloud ones.
Appearance. General & Recording also holds the look of the
app. Theme switches between dark and light.
Accent Color sets the brand accent used for buttons, the active
sidebar item, and highlights — Cobalt (default),
Teal, or Violet.
Text Size — Default, Large, Larger, Largest — enlarges the text
and the whole interface for easier reading. All three preview live as you change them, so you can
see the result before you save.
App updates. RecorderDesk checks GitHub Releases for a new
version automatically — on launch and every 6 hours — and surfaces a notification banner
(Download / Later / Restart) as soon as one is found; it never downloads without your say-so.
Auto-check can be turned off from General & Recording, which also has a manual
Check for Updates control. Both are disabled in Offline Mode
and logged like any other egress event. Crash reports (uncaught exceptions, unhandled
rejections, renderer/child-process crashes) are captured fully locally
into the Activity Log — nothing is ever uploaded to a server.
License. Also in General & Recording: your trial countdown
or Pro status and an Upgrade to Pro button. No sign-in is
required to use the trial. To buy, sign in with
Google, Microsoft, Apple, or email — the purchase is bound to
that account so you're never charged twice, and signing back in on any device automatically
restores it, so there's no separate Restore button. If your Pro install isn't tied to an
account, the license card instead shows a one-time
Redemption Link you can open on another device to unlock Pro
there.
Keyboard shortcuts & tips
- • ⌘/ — open the shortcuts sheet (customizable under Settings → Keyboard Shortcuts).
- • Alt+A — Help Me Answer: generate cue-card anchors from recent transcript turns.
- • Shortcuts are shown and matched with your platform's own keys — ⌘ and ⌥ on macOS, Ctrl and Alt on Windows.
- • Cloud features (Gemini, cloud summary providers, Ask AI web search, URL calendar subscriptions) need an API key/connection and are blocked in Offline Mode.
